Best Wedding Photography In Philadelphia - Business

A person dilemma that a wedding ceremony videographer typically faces is dim lighting in a church or synagogue. In buy to get the best top quality wedding ceremony video, you need an ample amount of light, and an skilled wedding ceremony videographer will know how to work with any lights condition. Most churches and synagogues do not make it possible for lights and many do not even want camera flashes employed for the duration of the ceremony.Scenario in level, I was shooting the photography for a marriage ceremony in a major, gorgeous aged church external Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The videographer came in and set up two 2000 watt quartz halogen flood lights. Needless to say, it looked like a motion picture set, wires almost everywhere, so it was no surprise to me when the priest came in and asked to converse to Cecil B.DeMille. He informed the videographer that this was a church and not a film set.The videographer did not check out with the church just before the weddin g, so he was not mindful of the restrictions for wedding movies and photography. The priest manufactured him acquire down the lights, so he was pressured to shoot the video clip with just the obtainable healthy light. I have discovered that if the church or synagogue is significant and dimly lit, you can inquire the officiant to turn on all feasible overhead lights. This ought to be ample to shoot a wedding ceremony video clip. An expert videographer will know that he can flip up the get. Indeed, this brings a bit of video clip sounds into the marriage ceremony video clip but at the identical time it can assist convey up the lights to an satisfactory stage. We all know that weddings can be held in any number of venues, from the beach, to a subject, to a stadium. Weddings have even been held in dining establishments and haunted residences. Lights for wedding ceremony videography for this sort of services is normally heading to be dependent on the location and time of day. Ther e will most likely to be a lot less restrictions and you will be ready to get inventive with your lights. You can indulge your inner film maker. Some more recent churches are intended like a theater and will have the needed lights in area."I just can not find the money for to shell out yet another $4000 for wedding photography. I'm currently paying out $25,000 for the reception and the dress charge $2000!"Sound acquainted? It ought to. Today's weddings expense alot. When periods are tough, brides search for techniques to lessen charge without supplying away their dream day. This is understandable. Maybe there is a way to be certain to spend a lot less for your wedding ceremony photography. Here are three fantastic approaches to decrease price tag.Initial, confuse know-how with know-how. What? Digital technologies generates potent cameras that make amateurs believe that that they are authentic photographers. Any bride can help you save major expenditures by acquiring into thi s bogus perception. All she needs to do is make selected that a family members member or good friend is adequately outfitted with a very good digital camera.2nd, confuse price with value. The appeal of your marriage ceremony day cannot adequately be measured by mere bucks and cents, can it? You've dreamed your entire living of this day and the appeal and which means that this type of day makes. But, if you can just quit considering about how precious this dream day is then you can preserve alot of income. Cease concentrating on life-very long appeal and get started to think about short-phrase expenditures. This shift in concentrate saves huge bucks.Third, confuse your dream day with a 3rd grade birthday get together. All you will need to do to conserve funds is just see your dream marriage ceremony day in the specific exact same way that you see your 3rd grade birthday social gathering. Mom and father taking snapshots with their level and shoot camera, passing prints all-aro und later from the 1 hour processing place and then emailing small thumbnail pics to absolutely everyone. Never overlook to article this artwork to a social networking site. Yes, you've saved money, but at what value? Here's the point. This is all a bit tongue-in-cheek to generate a bigger and additional important stage. The position is this. Your dream day needs to be captured, recorded and artistically archived in a way that honors that dream. When the day is carried out and the a long time absent by, no 1 is even likely to don't forget what you ate at the $25,000 reception. No a single. Not even you.As a substitute, you, your children and your relatives will ask around and around once again to see that dream day. The very last thing in the world you will care about then is the meals. You will desire upon desire that the wedding ceremony photography had taken very first area. You will.Yes, you can invest a whole lot significantly less for your dream. 1st, just let anyone ge t photographs. Second, overlook the true appeal of your dream and consider only about cash. Third, deal with your dream day no far better than your 3rd grade birthday. Of course. All these work if the only objective is to fork out less. Here's a better way. Initial, retain the services of the greatest artist you can discover to make expert photographs that are then printed in pro methods into spectacular albums with pro archival and heirloom high quality. Second, don't forget that worth is usually a lot more important than price. You will know that you have forgotten this when you significantly consider that shelling out $25,000 on a reception is additional beneficial than $4000 on an artist/photographer. Concentration on much better recollections and much less meals. Lastly, a dream day is exactly that. A dream day. Don't handle it as if the ultimate picture recollections are just any outdated social gathering. You will regret that choice later on. You will. It really is you r dream day. Evidently, the Department of Education has confidence in program. After this program the schools of Philadelphia will continue this successful program providing a grant for the Art Bridges over the next four years. Art Bridges will provide 5 schools with onsite artists who will instruct students and collaborate with classroom teachers towards the goal of achieving state and local literacy goals.

The aims of this program for the Philadelphia schools are: to improve academic performance in reading; improve students' attitudes of self and school; help classroom teachers integrate arts and literacy; improve teacher capacity; and improve teacher understanding of core curriculum. Philadelphia Schools will provide on-going professional development to both the artists and teachers involved in the project. Artists will represent organizations like the Philadelphia Theatre Company and the Clay Studio. Poets, playwrights, and artists are among those involved.

This bridge will work by targeting 4th, 5th and 6th graders from Philadelphia Schools over the four-year life of the grant. This will make students stronger and will motivate them for further work. Philadelphia Schools were selected for participation based on the following criteria: a neighborhood elementary housing at least two grades of 4, 5, and 6 grade classrooms; the school must employ an art and music specialists; and it must be defined as low achieving by Adequate Yearly Progress markers. Qualified Philadelphia Schools that applied were then chosen by a random lottery.

From this article you can receive the information about the Art Institute in Philadelphia and about the life of students during their studies. Educational establishments in Philadelphia try to participate in different programs which help students to widen their views and to be skilful in different fields. By these programs schools and the art institute try to couple literacy and the art. This makes students more creative and studies for them become more interesting. If Philadelphia Schools can show success with this approach, the impact on arts education and the education of at-risk students could be huge.

Commercial Advertising Photography - Making The Camera Lie In Order To Tell The Truth - Hobbies - Photography

Commercial advertising photography is an essential ingredient in a marketing campaign, especially where food, cooking and dining is concerned. Restaurants and hotels in particular are always very keen to make sure that their food looks as appealing in the commercial photographs as it does when served up on a plate. You may well be forgiven for assuming that as long as the food is cooked well and presented as professionally as one might expect in a top class hotel that taking a photograph of it was the easy bit.

To some extent, taking a photograph of food is easy, but of course the difficult part is to make sure that the food still looks as good on film as it does on the plate. Unfortunately as many amateur photographers have found to their cost, this isn't necessarily the case. In fact any restaurant or hotel which has taken their own in house advertising photographs in order to save money will be sorely disappointed with the quality. It seems quite unfair that something so delicious should be so difficult to photograph.

For example, let's take a nice roast Sunday lunch, steaming hot, with gravy poured over the wonderful plate of food. A few photographs and the job is done, or so you might think. The problem is that when you look at the photographs several things seem to be missing. First of all, the steam has gone. When the meal was presented to you it was steaming hot, literally, but the problem with steam is that it doesn't actually last very long, and often it will disappear in seconds once the plate is served up. So how do professional commercial product photographers manage to get such fantastic pictures of food which looks so hot?

One of the inside trade secrets is actually cotton wool balls. By soaking these in water and then popping them in the microwave it is possible to place these surreptitiously behind items on the plate, creating wonderful plumes of steam which last for ages and produce steam dense enough to come out in the photograph. So next time you see a professional photograph of a steaming plate of food, you'll be less taken with the idea of tucking in to a plate of cotton wool.

The gravy is another problem though, because on the plate it looks wonderful, but in photographs it looks fairly bland - a bit like muddy water perhaps. How do professional commercial photographers achieve the glossy, appetising look? The answer is that they don't use gravy. The gravy in commercial advertising photography images is nothing more than ordinary grade motor oil. So with motor oil poured lovingly over a plate of cotton wool buds it's rapidly becoming clear that a commercial product photographer is not actually taking a photograph of a plate of food in order to produce a photograph of a plate of food.

Clearly this is where the amateurs are going wrong, and why those hotels and restaurants who do employ the services of professional photographer manage to have advertising images which look so appetising and appealing that people's mouths are drooling even before they've sat down. From deodorant aerosols used to add a frosty look to grapes, to hairspray which can make cake look moist, and from toothpicks holding items of food in just the right position to mashed potato squirted under the skin of poultry to make it look extra plump and tender, commercial product photography is not about taking quality photographs of products, but creating images which represent or suggest the product itself, which often means making the camera lie, just to recreate what would otherwise be seen for real. Does the camera lie? Yes, but only to ensure a more accurate image.

Commercial Advertising Photography - The Art Of Fooling The Eye - Hobbies - Photography

The first thing you notice about commercial advertising photography is the product, and how fantastic it looks. Successful and effective commercial advertising photographers will be able to create an image which stands out for all the right reasons, grabs the attention of the target audience and communicates the right message almost instantly.

But whilst it's easy to admire the look of the product and the skill of the photographer, in most cases commercial advertising photography is not about what you see, but about what you don't see. You might think that when you look at an advertising image what you're seeing is what the photographer saw, but that is invariably not the case.

Of course, we all know that there are tricks of the trade and many people will immediately assume that any image will have been doctored using a graphics tool such as Adobe's Photoshop, and whilst this may be the case, there's far more going on than meets the eye. One of the first things to appreciate in commercial advertising is that what you see is almost certainly not quite what you would see if you were looking at the product yourself in a shop.

Lighting, the environment and many little known tricks of the trade all come into play, helping to create an illusion which doesn't just look real, it actually looks more real in some cases than it would in real life. For example, if you were looking at a television in a shop then you'd probably either see a whole lot of distracting reflections in the screen, or the television would be on and you'd be watching a picture. In a product image though you're either going to see a screen that doesn't have any distracting reflections in it, or it will look as though it's switched on and displaying a picture.

The trouble is that if you take a photograph of a television, either switched on or off, neither result will look very realistic. So how do product photographers make their images appear to be so realistic, whilst still being entirely different to how a normal photograph of a television would look?

In order to take a photograph of a television switched off commercial advertising photographers will either have a studio which includes a 360 degree backcloth to remove any potentially distracting reflections, or they will edit the image afterwards, replacing the screen with a shaded black rectangle which looks realistic, yet which doesn't even exist as part of the screen in real life. But how about taking a photograph of a television that's switched on?

If you've ever tried this you'll know that the result will look terrible- very fuzzy and half missing. This is because the camera lens sees what your eyes and brain can't see - the fact that the image on the screen is only an illusion created by rapidly flickering lights. So professional photographers will usually take a screen grab from a computer and then superimpose that onto the photograph of the screen to improve the quality. The final image will look just as you expect it to, even though you know that that's not how it would really look if you took a photograph of it.

Effective commercial advertising photography allows us to be fooled, even when we know that what we are looking at can't be real, despite looking very real. The art of illusion and of fooling the eye is a subtle one, because consumers will not be interested in a picture which has been obviously doctored, yet will be enticed by an image which they know can't be completely real. If you're not sure how to achieve the right balance then it's far safer to leave it in the hands of the experts.

Glamour Photos, Exotic Photography, Erotic Photography, Artistic Photos - Art - Visual Art

There is Glamour Photography and Intimate Glamour Photography. There is Exotic Photography, Celebrity Photography, and Erotic Photography. There is Fashion and Commercial Photography, Model Photography and even Artistic Photography. These are all terms with somewhat distinct meanings but which point at the incredible interest in and consumption of the Female Body in these various forms of its portrayal. When you add the words exotic and erotic to photography, it leans toward the sexual. Then there are also art photos, Artistic Female Photos, perhaps interpretive, sometimes sexual but sometimes focusing on the models soul rather than her body. There are also Pin-up Models and of course, Playboy Models.

I want to try to point out specific differences in photography relating to the correct use of words such as 'exotic,' 'glamour,' 'erotic' and 'sensual' here, in particular. The word erotic, for instance, has come into widespread misuse, regarding both erotic photography and even erotic stories. This is partially because of the overuse it has been given on the Internet especially by adult sites. Adult venues have "adopted" the term erotic and used it enough to describe their wares that it has taken on a broader meaning than had ever been ascribed to it in the past. Many adult sites may indeed contain erotic photography but in its true meaning erotic photography does not even necessarily include nude photography. Correctly used, in fact, erotic photography perhaps arouses sexuality but does not necessarily display it.

Naturally, most people believe what they see rather than challenging the definition of a word which may be vague in their understanding anyhow. So when they repeatedly see the words erotic photography attached to graphic sexual content they associate the two things as one in their mind. Erotic Photography could be more correctly describes as "Sensual," which has more to do with the feelings evoked by a photo rather than the actions depicted in it.

The term "exotic Photography" really has to do with a sense of distance or the unusual. A photo might more logically be called exotic due to the type of unique clothing featured in the photo rather than the models lack of clothing. The model herself may have an exotic look or appearance. Glamour Photography requires a sense of glamour, and a sense of the world as a venue for glamour. Glamour photography may or may not be erotic, exotic or sensual. Glamour photography is about the photographer allowing the model to reach inside herself for the exact expression necessary for the particular feeling which is to be conveyed in the photo.

To summarize, in general, words have a specific meaning. In practice, though, meanings change. Erotic Photography, even erotic stories are meanings in flux. Exotic photography is more distinct and leans toward the unusual. Glamour photography is bringing a sense of the glamorous to the art of photography. It usually results from the unique collaboration of a Glamour photographer with a model able to react from inside herself to convey an idea or feeling within a photograph. Sensual photography is what should be described in the term erotic photography but for the common misuse of the term currently. Erotic photography and erotic stories, correctly used, do not imply prurient sexual activity.

Excellence in Erotic Art Photography - Art - Humanities

When most hear the words "Erotic Photography" photos of bare women with no morals taking advantage of themselves for money is what comes to mind. Erotic photos are very much more than this. At its heart, erotic photographs is a way to capture the essence of the body, the external beauty, and subtleties that define sensuality and eroticism.

Erotic photography is defined as photographing the nude body in a manner which is artistic and creative. Whereas, we commonly think of porn material as the edgy, degrading, and often trashy images of women, with low moral standards behind it. Many photographers are spend many years refining the art of erotic photography. Some even have award winning erotic arts which features a nude subject. Even the erotic photography models undergo long sessions of training to master their poses and to create the subtle nuances that define their area of work.

Because of the controversy, in the 1900's , those who were skilled in the art of erotic photography were chastised and therefore would take the photos anonymously. Even though sex sites reigns supreme on the internet, it's still difficult to find true erotic photography, which stands apart from it's distant relative, porn. Erotic images have been present in virtually every society in this world. The Paleolithic carvings and cave paintings are an example of very old, but surviving erotic depictions. If you look at the ruins of Pompeii, you'll see ancient Greek paintings that cover the walls. A country like Peru on the southern part of America had a community known as Moshe which centered on sculpturing explicit scenes into their pottery. Also, the Larco museum in Lima has many types of erotic ceramics and artwork.

The same has also been experienced in Eastern cultures. In Japan, the Shunga appeared from early in the thirteenth century up to late in the nineteenth century. All through, it continued to gain popularity until the invention of photography. In China, it was during the latter years of Ming dynasty that erotic art reached its climax. The Kama Sutra of India continues to enjoy popularity till today.

Today, erotic artists are still present in our societies although their work is not accepted like that of other genres of art. However, over the last few years, there has been a big growth and development in this art. Several new approaches to it have been developed such as Realism and Impressionism. What remains to be seen is how long erotic art continues to live with us.

What is erotic art? -

The term "erotic photography" conjures up all sorts of graphics and thoughts for most people, from true art to the more edgy stuff we'll refer to as pornography. Erotic photography is very much more than this. At its heart, erotic photography is a way to record the substance of the body, the external splendor, and subtleties that define sensuality and eroticism.

Erotic photos is characterized as taking pictures of the bare body in a fashion which is artistic and creative. Whereas, we generally think of pornography as the edgy, degrading, and often trashy images of women, with low ethical standards behind it. Many photographers are spend many years mastering the art of erotic photography. It's also not uncommon for an erotic photographer to take award-winning shots of their subjects, and obtain much significant praise for their work. Even the erotic photography models undergo long sessions of training to master their poses and to create the subtle nuances that define their area of work.

Long before magazines like Playboy were ever printed erotic art and nude photography were popular. History is filled with examples of erotic art and nude portraits. Because of the controversy, in the 1900's , those who were skilled in the art of erotic photography were chastised and therefore would take the photos anonymously. Today, the Internet has made it increasingly difficult to access the wealth of erotic photography since it is cluttered with pornographic images, however, there are some online resources that have creative and artist images that are excellent examples of professional erotic photography. If you search hard enough you will be able to find some very talented photographers and models who exemplify the very nature of erotic photography. These examples bring with them an artistic slant that many people can appreciate.

Erotic depictions have been present in almost every society in this world. The Paleolithic carvings and cave paintings are an example of very old, but surviving erotic depictions. Many people know about the Kama Sutra of India, which remains a popular subject across many cultures.

Erotic artists still exist in our society, but their work has lost some of the appreciation it used to carry.Mostly this is because of the new forms of pornography, which seem to shed a negative light on their fringe associations, such as erotic photography. That said, during the last decade we've seen a new growth in erotic photography and artwork. Several new approaches to it have been developed such as Realism and Impressionism. What remains to be seen is how long erotic art continues to live with us.

The Importance Of High Resolution In Scientific Photography - Art

Pictures provide valuable documentation in scientific study. However, the amount, quality and accuracy of the data contained in an image varies based on the resolution of the camera used. High resolution pictures provide the best documentation in scientific photography.

What Is Resolution?

A digital image is made up of thousands or millions of individual dots of color, called pixels. A photograph with a resolution of 1280 x 800 is made up of 800 rows of 1280 pixels or just over a megapixel (a million pixels). Resolution is a measure of how many pixels an image contains. All else being equal, an image with a higher resolution, that is an image with more pixels, contains more information than an image with a lower resolution.

In scientific photography, more resolution is better. A higher resolution image show a subject in more detail and can reveal the subtle, fine features that a lower resolution picture wouldn't show. This is why, as a rule, scientific photography is best handled by cameras with high megapixel ratings.

Zooming Into The Image

You might be asking yourself if there is a reasonable limit to useful resolution. After all, the human eye has a finite limit to the detail it can perceive, so does it help to take pictures with features so fine they can't be seen with the naked eye? In a word, yes.

High resolution scientific photography allows a viewer to zoom into an image as though the subject were being put under a microscope. Try this on a typical consumer camera and the image quickly becomes blocky, but on a hyper-resolution image in the 24- to 72-megapixel range, viewers can blow up the image and still get a tremendously precise and accurate picture. It allows very careful examination of a specimen that may itself be long gone.

What About Close Ups?

In previous generations of photographic technology, researchers used close up photography to document the fine details of a subject. By taking many pictures at varying scales, they could accurately record a specimen. Does high resolution scientific photography eliminate the need for close ups? For that matter, could a researcher use a cheaper, lower resolution camera and use close up images to compensate for the lack of scalability of the images produced?

Close up photography and high resolution photography complement each other. Zoomed in images are still valuable, and when done in high resolution they can be zoomed in even more when viewed later. However what if a photographer neglects to do a close up of a particular part of the specimen? Researchers may not realize a particular detail is important at the time, and the specimen may be disposed of. With a high resolution photograph, they can still zoom in on neglected areas and examine them closely.

High resolution photography requires professional grade equipment, which is why many researchers choose to use commercial photographers to document their work.

Fashion Photography, a little history ad guidance - Art - Visual Art

Magazines such as Allure, Vogue and Vanity Fair are known to display some of the best fashion photography that you will ever come across. Photography is a way of showcasing models wearing the trends in clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, hairstyles, necklaces, shoes and other items. The first known record of fashion photography was the portfolio of the Countess de Castiglione, Virginia Oldoini in 1856. The world's first fashion photographer was Adolphe Braun, as he was the one responsible for shooting the first fashion model. Spark and color were added to fashion magazines once halftone printing was introduced to the fashion photography industry. The first magazines to make use of fashion photography were the French magazines Les Mode and La Mode Practique.

At first, fashion photography consisted of staging the shoots in natural environments using natural poses. Baron Adolf de Meyer was the person who first developed and adopted this practice. In the first part of the 20the century, the magazines that were the leaders were Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. The moguls of the industry still pay tribute to the likes of Yva, Edward Steichen and Cecil Beaton, and George Hoyningen Huene. These were the individuals who help to establish fashion photography in Europe. Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Martin Munkacsi made significant contributions after World War II.

A majority of the artists of earlier times deserted their adopted forms, and took on a more independent and natural style. 1936 was the year that models were first photographed at the beach in different poses, by Martin Munkacsi. After World War II, fashion photography became quite popular among young men who loved to hold a camera in their hands, and among young women who had the ideal body type of a fashion model. Today, fashion photography has evolved into a life of its own. Models and photographers are now seen as international celebrities, and enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and glamorous. But make no mistake this it is no easier for the photographer then it is the models, only a small percentage of those trying to make it actually succeed.

Fashion can be showcased in various avenues. Some of these well appreciated and well paid avenues include celebrity portraiture, art photography and fashion advertising. Fashion moguls such as agent Gloria Cappelletti and photo editor Clio McNicholl both agree that the fashion photography industry is quickly evolving.

For anyone wanting to become a fashion photographer it is important to keep up on trends and aesthetics of the industry. Study the images in the top fashion publications and try to understand the images and what attracts editors to them. Its interesting to look back at some of the really great photographers from a few decades ago. Interesting that some of the fashion photographers appear to have disappeared. The ones still shooting are the ones that accept change and reinvent their style all the time, fashion photography can become dated almost as quickly as the fashions they showcase.

As a professional photographer, apart from your camera, the most important tool that you can own is your portfolio. Your portfolio is actually your gateway to the industry. There are certain guidelines that you must follow when submitting your portfolio to a fashion editor. Once you are able to follow these guidelines correctly, you will on your way to becoming one of the world's renowned fashion photographers.

Portrait Photography, Posing and Making Money - Art - Visual Art

The vertical market demand reaches enormous levels especially when the requirement is almost all households around the world in all civilized countries. You can get an idea of this from another angle - if you're looking to promote your business portrait, can guide the construction of any or all and what is more exciting is that repeat business is almost incalculable. Parents love to have family portraits and some, like having to do each year as children grow. In addition, most like to have a picture of each child when more than one. The opportunities become endless. It is his skill in this area of photography and how to approach what counts.

A portrait photography business can be started from home. Often only requiring modest photography equipment, for example, you only need several pieces of fabric (background), a camera, some good lenses, two or maybe three lights and do not forget the tripod. In addition to the equipment to be modest ones in every way, everything is pretty lightweight and easy to handle if you need to work outdoors.

The most important rule to remember is that it is a portrait, not necessarily just the head, but the person or group is the center of the image, so it is important to take the picture without any mess outside. Because you always have to deal with people you have to maintain control, not as a tyrant, but you have to guide the subjects. Therefore, a certain degree of confidence needed. If you are taking a formal portrait of a group of children need you as a photographer to make sure none of the children are making faces.

This leads us to ask. Many photographers underrated this essential requirement because it poses make or break your portrait. There is much value in learning how to guide people through various poses. Posing has a continuing education requirement depending on age, gender, culture, promotion, product, and the emotion needed for each work of art, etc. It is an issue as important and extensive that I have submitted this downloadable guide that I I must take seriously - Making Camera Posing really friendly!

When you subscribe to a person for a photographic portrait take extra pictures and photographs offered as a wallet at a lower price. Who have already started the business, take advantage of it; few people can resist the feeling that they have "something for nothing." This may seem a waste of time because they can be important additives for your portfolio.

Portrait photography has undergone many changes of style since the introduction of formal portrait. The modern emphasis is to bring out the personality of each individual. Top glamour models are paid enormous fees to express a unique personality, but to pursue this aspect of his subject is both personal and technical skills of the camera. It is essential to be able to create a relationship with his order to carry out the terms that show your personality. Anyone over two years may pose for the camera with a blank expression, but the secret of portrait photography is capturing salable more than pose. To be a good portrait photographer you have to be able to connect with people, if you do not have these skills, then you better concentrate on some other type of photography, underwater photography maybe, if you want more active and adventurous.

If you want to flatter your subject, you probably want to minimize their nose. Standing about four meters from the subject, so that your nose is not significantly closer than the rest of the face. However, so far away from the camera, if you fill the frame with only the subject's face, then you need a high-magnification lens. Typical "portrait" lenses are therefore between 90 and 135 millimeters long when using a 35mm camera.

While a lot of portrait photography is completed inside a studio, the prospect of natural light can be very flattering. This can be achieved by placing the subject inside facing a window. The portrait of the environment presents different challenges. These portraits are best enlarged, if the subject's face is lost in the background. A slow film and using a tripod will help keep your images sharp. There are numbers of professional photographers who say that the portrait is not shown to best advantage when it is clinically sharp and use a filter, but with modern digital cameras, you can make an adjustment in Photoshop at a later time. However, if you're using a digital camera you will achieve the best results with a camera with a true single lens reflex.

The natural light or lighting umbrella can achieve soft lighting; both reduce shadows and show your face in a "better more attractive light." However, there is another kind of portrait photography, which is high impact photography. This is very dramatic portrait photography, using a bright light with high contrast of tonal color. This technique is most effective in the interior, and is achieved by controlling the light and not too light for the door control. Position your subject at different angles of light from one side or below. This lengthens the shadows, instead of silence, and gives a dramatic effect clearly. You can achieve this in varying degrees, but if the light source is placed at 90 degrees to the face, throw the whole side of the face in shadow. If using a digital camera can also manipulate the contrast in the afternoon for a more dramatic effect.

You can also improve your photographs if you include some motion shots, as well as traditional stills.

How to start an online clothing store in 12 steps - Business - Entrepreneurship

This article is meant to be a very rough outline in the process of starting up an e-commerce based clothing store or boutique. In the high-paced and competitive world of fashion retail setting up your store is just the first step and quite honestly has little bearing on how successful your store will actually be. For example, Bluefly.com has an estimated monthly traffic of 840K, but since going public in 1998 has never made a single year of profit. As of December 31, 2009, Bluefly has an accumulated deficit of $147,468,000. Your guess on how they remain in business is as good as mine, but think of it this way. Even if you only make $1.00 of profit your first year of business, then you are technically doing better than Bluefly.

Please note, many of these steps can be done concurrently. For example, while you are filing your legal forms, you can work on your web design. This is especially true if you are depending on a third-party to design and set-up your website. They may work on a longer time frame than you initially anticipated. I do highly suggest that you just focus on the business plan initially. For example, if you decide that you are going to design your website with a specific concept while you write your business plan, then you just might find after researching that your concept is not what you??re going to move forward with. In this case, you probably spent 40-60 hours on non-productive output.

1. Write a business plan.To be honest with you, when my girlfriend and I launched our website, we did not have a business plan, but we did write one eventually. The simple fact is that if you are planning for success, then you must write a business plan sooner or later. In business school, you write it sooner than later. The business plan is important because it forces you to do research about the industry, your competitors, and your resources. Additionally, it forces you to think deeply about how you are going to succeed in this highly competitive industry. If you think that you are going to be just like Modcloth, then why would you expect to be successful compared to Modcloth when they are working with millions of dollars of venture capitalist funds for a workforce, marketing, inventory, etc. I don??t have an answer for you, but my point is that you have to come up with a plan before investing your life??s savings into this new venture. Also, the business plan is importa nt because it also forces you to estimate how much money you will need and where that many is coming from. The reality is that unless you have real background in finance, you will not be able to build a 5-10 year projected Discounted Cash Flow Model and figure out your WACC, but having some kind of rough idea of your cash flow is better than nothing.

You should also include a plan on how you are going to initially set-up your website. For example, using a subscription-based shopping cart will change your budget than if you decide to use an open-source shopping cart. Also, you should also do your initial research on web hosting companies since they can range from $10/month to over $300/month. My only suggestion is that you get the fastest and most reliable that your budget will allow. Please note, that all I??m suggesting is that you plan what you are going to do as far as web design and hosting is concerned, not that you go out and pay for these services right now. The only expense that you may want to consider at this moment is that for registering a domain name. That??s because they are relatively inexpensive to register and you don??t want to possibly miss out on registering your wanted domain.

You should come up with a budget and plan for marketing, public relations, and search engine optimization. These will most likely be your largest expense heading into the future. Remember, buying inventory is not an expense, it is an asset.

Last, but not least, you also want to plan on order fulfillment. This is just a fancy way of saying how you are going to pack and send your product, as well as what return procedure and policy you will have in place. Will you use USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL? Will you have free shipping, returns, and/or exchanges? These are all things that should be planned for, though will change over time.

2. Apply for a Employer Identification Number with the IRSOnce again, if you are planning for success in the future, then you are going to have to run your business legally. You will need an EIN to open a bank account, apply for a business license, and get a seller??s permit. Just search ??EIN?? in the google search engine and the IRS website should be the first result. When applying for your EIN, you will need to know the legal structure of your business. For example, if your business is going to be a one man or woman show, then you are going to apply as a sole proprietor. If it turns out that you and your mom are going to run the business, then you may choose partnership or decide to incorporate.

3. Pick your fictitious business name, ??Doing Business As,?? and file it with your county clerkOne of the more exciting step in setting up your business will always be picking a name. My girlfriend and chose T.I.L. Darling because before we were officially a couple, she would tell me that in Thailand, her home country, that she and I could never go out alone as even friends. I told her, ??This is London, Darling.?? So, I guess our business name should technically be T.I.L., Darling, to be more grammatically correct. Once you have your fictitious business name, you need to make a pretty good attempt to make sure no one else is using that same name. Otherwise, years down the line when you are making money, you can expect a letter from a lawyer saying how they are going to sue the designer pants off of you.

If your county registrar/clerk has a website with downloadable forms, then search for the DBA filing form, fill it out, and bring it to the county clerk. Otherwise, you will just have to do everything in person. There, you will probably have your first business expense with the filing fee. Your second expense will be the requirement that you advertise your new business name in an approved newspaper or public publication so that if anyone has a problem with your DBA then they can step forward. The county clerk will be able to point you in the right direction for this step.

4. Open a business bank accountAgain, planning for future success, you will want to open up a separate bank account for your business. This way, you can track and easily separate business expenses from your personal expenses, write checks or have transactions under your business name, and just generally feel like a real business.

5. Start designing and setting up your websiteThere are actually a few methods of going forward with your website. I will explore a few options starting from the most costly to the least costly. Even though I would have to question whether or not running an online business if for you, but if you have extremely limited experience with web design or are just not internet savvy, then you may need to do everything third-party. If you realize that you??re going to need someone to design your website, initially set-up your domain and site, then you will probably need to find some kind of subscription based shopping cart. For example, if you have money to spend, then search ??boutiquecommerce?? in the google search engine. This company will do just about everything for you, from web design, domain registration, web hosting, to ongoing support. There are many third-party shopping carts fitting almost any budget. To be honest, I have no experience with any paid or subscription base d shopping cart and so I will limit any opinion I have on them.

Another alternative is to buy a website template designed on top of an open-source (free) shopping-cart platform. Search ??templatemonster?? in the google search engine. Filter your search to include E-Commerce templates and choose ??fashion?? as your category, though you can customize any template to your needs in reality.

On a side note, before you purchase your template, you should set-up your server. During your business plan research, you should have figured out what web host fits best for you, but now is the time to actually spend some money because you will not be able to test your template unless you have a server to upload it to. This also means that if you haven??t done so already, then you will have to finally register your domain name, which is something you should have also figured out in your business plan. Most web hosts will actually register your domain for free, but feel free to use a service, such as godaddy, and you??ll need to change the namerservers to point to your web host.

Once you have your template and web host, then you need to upload your template and start customizing it. You can either use a ??template tuning?? service or if you have enough html, php, and photoshop experience, then you can do it yourself. Unfortunately, this step can be pretty difficult even for somewhat internet savvy users because this is where you will need to learn a little bit about setting up a database, setting up a database user, and how to use an FTP program to upload your site. That??s why some may opt to use a third-party shopping cart, but this option is by far the most flexible and cheapest if you have the time and are willing to learn.

You will also need to figure out how you will accept payment on your website. If you want to accept credit cards, which you should, then you will need a payment gateway. The most popular would be Paypal Pro and Authorize.net. You will need to apply for an account.

Of course, there is the ultimate DYI approach, where you can not only design your own website, but also code your own shopping cart. If this is the case, then I highly doubt you need to read this section of my tutorial.

6. Make Business CardsYes, I actually made this an individual step because you will need a business card to register for trade shows, as well as deal with suppliers. Since you are also working on your website design, it is also more efficient to work on a business card design. Additionally, you need some lead time because printers will charge you extra to expedite printing and shipping. So, if you plan ahead, you can save quite a bit of money.

7. Apply for a business license in your cityOnce again, if your city has website dedicated to business, then you should be able to download an application for a business license. In some cities, you can even apply for a home-based business license. Of course, only fill out a home-based business license if that is your case. Bring or even possibly mail your completed application and filing fee to the appropriate location. The reason I put this step after designing your website is because the business license fee is a yearly fee and so why pay when you are not even close to launching your website.

8. Apply for a Seller??s PermitAt this point, you should be fairly proficient at filing out forms. The last application you should have to file is for your seller??s permit, sometimes mistakenly called a resale license. The seller??s permit will allow you to buy from your wholesalers without paying sales tax, but it also requires you to pay the sales tax on any items sold, within your state, every quarter. Of course, in modern commerce, you are allowed to collect the sales tax from your customers.

9. Figure out how you are going to display your productsBefore you actually source your products, I believe it is wise to first figure out how you are going to display your products on your website. Are you going to use a mannequin, model, or just lay it flat. Will you outsource your product photography or do it right in your bedroom, which is how we first started. If you are going to do it yourself, then you still need to make sure it fits your budget and business plan as far as purchasing equipment. If you are going to need equipment, then now is the time to either jump online or go out and start making a real investment in your business.

10. Plan your product mix and find suppliersWhile you are figuring out how you will ultimate display your products, you will want to start researching where you will buy your products. If you haven??t done so, then you will want to start thinking more about your product mix. Of course, it needs to fit perfectly with your business plan, concept, and budget you already established in step 1. Fashion buying is another topic completely and I highly suggest you read up on it if you can.

After you have some kind of buying plan, it??s time to find suppliers. If you are lucky, then you will be able to catch the MAGIC Marketplace trade show in Las Vegas. They have vendors for vintage inspired clothing, juniors clothing, indie clothing, etc. It is essentially the largest fashion trade show in the USA and maybe the world. If you cannot find suppliers at MAGIC, then I would honestly be surprised. If you cannot wait for the bi-annual trade show, then you are most likely going to need to take a trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District. If you are looking for the glamorous world of designer labels, then you will be spending your time at ??The Intersection.?? At this intersection you will find the California Market Center, Cooper Design Space, Gerry Building, and The New Mart. Here you can find brands such as A.B.S. By Allen Schwartz, BCBG, and Betsey Johnson. If you are in this market, then be sure to bring copies of your business license, business card, and seller ??s license. Also, as an online business, be prepared to be rejected by many showrooms. If you??re like me though, then it should only inspire you to be more successful so that when the time comes you can reject them.

If your price point is a lot lower, then you are going to really want to spend time around the San Pedro Mart area. You will probably find that 80-90% of these wholesalers are not right for your target market, but that only means that you should find 10%-20% that is right and will be able to focus on building those relationships into the future.

Of course, you can always turn to the internet, registering with sites like fashiongo and lashowroom. Additionally, you can contact individual brand sales reps and they should send you line sheets and look books. In fact, this is how most business will be later in the future, but I suggest you visit trade shows and marts to get your feet a little wet.

11. Start product photography and adding content to your websiteSince you should have planned earlier for product photography, this step should be self explanatory. You want to add the products to your website and get it ready for a more official launch.

12. Start your marketing campaign, Search Engine Optimization campaign, and PR campaignAgain, these campaigns should have already been planned in the first step. This step is pretty much a hundred different subjects on its own and so I will not really dive to deep into it. The most rudimentary start would be to submit your site to search engines, such as Google and Yahoo!, sign up for Google Adwords, and start a Facebook and Twitter account. There is probably a good chance that will have to depend on paid advertising to get decent traffic at the beginning, but I highly suggest you plan and budget appropriately.

It might take one day or a whole month, but you??re going to get your first order and at that point you can finally say you really set-up your online clothing store.

Like I said, setting up an online clothing store is just the first step. In reality, you are going to have to learn as much as you can about fashion buying, merchandising, marketing, search engine optimization, html, php, ajax, javascript, analytics, etc.

Photography as an Art - Education

Modern critics have developed a number of strategies in order to distinguish art photography from non-art one. Nowadays, the distinction between fine art photography and documentary photography is fixed despite marginal works that are hard to be place to one or another category. Yet the contribution of photography to the western culture is the subject of loud debates. The main criterion they distinguish is subjectivity of the art photography. In this case, photographer expresses his own vision and puts it in the picture. Clive Bell, an art critic names the form as the main component, which distinguishes the art objects. ": "There must be some one quality without which a work of art cannot exist; possessing which, in the least degree, no work is altogether worthless. What is this quality? What quality is shared by all objects that provoke our aesthetic emotions? ... Only one answer seems possible - significant form. "(Jenkins)

Logic and rationality became dominant components in Western culture. Love to written words and rational thinking distinguished the face of western culture for a long time. Visual art, represented by the art photography has brought new shades to this culture as it gave new ideas for "visual thinking". Counting only on the rational constitutes of the art western people missed the comprehension through other senses. Abstract concepts prevailed in this culture for many centuries. Visual art, which existed before photography, couldn't change the equilibrium and switch attention to visionary art. This situation has changed with the development of art photography. Photography has brought dynamic aspect to the western culture. It managed to bring motion to art.

Like Arnheim states, "photography asserts that the world of sensory experience is not made up of things, but of dynamic force. The key to expression in visual art is the rendering of dynamic forces in fixed images. Expression is the manifestation of life, and life is what art is all about".

Photography had great influence on all western culture in general, but especially strong influence it had on painting, sculpture and some other kinds of visionary art. The painting depends on the materials it was created from. Photography is formally created from the objects of the environment. It has to go through the filter of the photographer and thus become an art, but still the difference is fundamental. Photography gave new understanding of visionary realism, opened new perspective of modernism and impressionism. Described as a mechanical reproduction act in the beginning, it became a separate part of art and an important component of western culture, which influenced its other components.

Despite the fact that photography has entered our culture quite a few centuries ago, scholars still argue about the specific guidelines that could be used to distinguish non-art photography from a genuine masterpiece. Noteworthy, a similar pattern exists in every other "automated" art. In my view, photography has evolved to become an art. Striving to depict reality as much as possible, photography now intends to reveal the inner conflict, underlying emotions and tones.
